My name is Londel French and I am running to be our next State Representative for 62B.

For 19 years I worked as an educator in the Minneapolis Public Schools. I have served as an At-Large Minneapolis Parks & Recreation Commissioner. I have worked as a community and union organizer.

I have spent my life working to uplift youth through public education and public parks and change structures of power to improve the lives as an organizer. Within these systems, when I ran into obstacles I kept hearing, this is a state issue.

I’m running to bring my decades of experience in education, housing, and public safety and my approach as an organizer who listens first and seeks to build coalitions to address difficult issues to the capitol as your representative.

Living in South Minneapolis as an hourly school worker for two decades, like many of our neighbors, I know what it's like to struggle to pay the rent while earning less than $35,000 a year while working multiple jobs.

When I recently bought my first home, I knew I wanted to live in South Minneapolis near the schools and parks I used to work at. I moved one block from George Floyd Square because I knew I wanted to stay a part of this community and be a part of building a new future together that dismantles the racism within our systems while improving the lives of all of us.

As a Park Board Commissioner, I led the effort that successfully eliminated programming fees and expanded youth employment opportunities. As a community leader with Take Action’s Justice for All campaign, I helped lay the groundwork for last session’s Restore the Vote win. As an educator, I worked to make sure every student and family felt welcome and had a place in our schools so they were ready to learn.

I’m running for State Representative for District 62B because no matter the color of our skin, where we come from, or who we worship, we all deserve joy and justice. Our South Minneapolis district deserves a State Representative who knows how to get it.

I’m excited to build that Minnesota together.
